Roundtable Discussion on Alcohol 2010

The focus of the second roundtable was to examine, review and discuss the draft alcohol strategy for Ballymun and explore agency participation in working towards the agreed actions. 

The larger group was divided into three smaller groups and each was asked to discuss the draft strategy according to various thematic areas. Four groups were formed which provided an opportunity for discussion regarding short term and long term suggested responses towards reducing overall consumption and alcohol related harm. These groups were;

1)       Supply Reduction & Enforcement

2)       Community Attitudes

3)       Prevention & Education

4)       Treatment/Rehabilitation & Harm Reduction

Questions used in the Session

Groups were asked to consider the following questions in relation to their theme;

• Are the strategic a) objectives and b) actions  -  relevant, achievable, understandable?
• Do the actions meet the strategic objectives?
• Are there any missing actions or gaps?
• Could your agency contribute towards delivery of any action in the strategy?
