     About the CARE Project    

            

CARE, Community Alcohol Response and Engagement Project  is a new local alcohol treatment service which has been developed by Drug & Alcohol Task Forces, HSE Addiction Service, and community based drug & alcohol service providers in Ballymun, Finglas and North County Dublin.

CARE aims to provide a comprehensive treatment service for adults over 18 years presenting with a full range of alcohol-related problems, to include brief intervention, information and education, one-to-one key working and motivational group programme.  Preparation for community librium detoxification can also be provided where required and appropriate, as well as support during detox and aftercare/relapse prevention following detox.

CARE is especially interested to support local drug and alcohol services, primary care services, working with community mental health teams and liaising with acute hospitals to assist with the management of patients with alcohol related problems across the whole spectrum of severity.

CARE is now open to take referrals in our Civic Office, Ballymun. Our office is located on the first floor of the Civic Offices and will be open to scheduled appointments on Monday and Friday. CARE targets adults who are over 18 years who live in, or have connections with Ballymun, Finglas and North Dublin whose primary drug of misuse is alcohol. CARE accepts self-referrals and service provider referrals.

The CARE Coordinator will review all referrals received to determine their appropriateness for the CARE project.
